Women's Work Is Never Done

The+Waitress
Praise your favorite women and their accomplishments today—whether they toil inside or outside the home.

Today is International Women's Day, a holiday commemorating ordinary women and their struggle for equal rights.

It originated in the United States in 1857, when women garment and textile workers in New York City staged a protest against inhumane working conditions, the twelve-hour workday, and low wages.

The holiday, sometimes called International Working Women's Day, is now celebrated worldwide, particularly in Socialist countries. The United Nations has observed International Women's Day annually on March 8 since 1975.
