Frolic amid the Blossoms!

Blossoms
From March 23 through April 8, the city of Washington celebrates a magical spring rite—the Cherry Blossom Festival.

This year marks the 90th anniversary of the Tokyo mayor's gift of 3,000 cherry trees to Washington—a symbol of friendship between Japan and the United States. The festival consists of a parade and numerous sporting and cultural events. Today's artwork by William Henry Holmes captures the splendor of a promenade along the Tidal Basin during peak blossom days.
