Let's Split!

Split
Our traveling exhibition, Modernism & Abstraction: Treasures from the Smithsonian American Art Museum closes its run at the Des Moines Art Center in Iowa on June 30.

Kenneth Noland's Split is among the exciting avant garde works that will move to the Muskegon Museum of Art in Muskegon, Michigan, beginning July 21, 2002.

According to Noland, "color can be mood, can convey human meaning." Here the dynamic geometric forms and bright, contrasting colors suggest movement and energy. Whether the splitting of the atom or the dividing of a cell, Noland's image offers a metaphor for creative transformation.
