On Your Mark ...

Tropism #12
Lovington, New Mexico, hosts the World's Greatest (and perhaps only) Lizard Race today.

Bring your lizard or iguana to Chaparral Park and cheer as they race down a sixteen-foot ramp! Or just go to observe the many lizard events held all day long.

Suzi Gablik's collage highlights reptiles in a creative composition. Gablik, who is fascinated with unusual connections, juxtaposes unlikely elements—an Indian Buddha figure seated in a primeval swamp, for example, is combined with a pair of crocodiles and a tangle of snakes to create imaginary worlds that are curious blends of primordial fantasies and science fiction.
