Do-Si-Do
It's the birthday of country music star Hank Williams!
Country singer/songwriter/guitarist Hank Williams was born on this day in 1923, in rural Alabama. He and his band, the Drifting Cowboys, began their career in local "honky-tonk" bars, perhaps playing for informal gatherings like the one in today's painting. Williams's mournful songs became famous through radio programs like the "Grand Ole Opry," and became some of the first country music to be popular outside of rural areas. Hank Williams was one of the first three musicians to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame when it opened in 1961.
