Frida Fever
Catch the film Frida, which opens nationwide this month, and learn about artist Frida Kahlo!
The Mexican painter turned to art after suffering serious injuries during a bus accident. Kahlo's highly personal and emotionally charged work documents and interprets her long periods of illness and her stormy union with husband, artist Diego Rivera. This portrait of Kahlo comes from our Juley Collection, where you can search for portraits of hundreds of American artists.
Want to know more about Kahlo? Then check out our online journal American Art. Read an abstract our our spring 2001article "A Rare Crossing: Frida Kahlo and Luther Burbank."
