Glass! Glorious Glass! is closing tomorrow, January 30 Take advantage of this last chance to see this sparkling and spectacular exhibition at the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
In this piece, one asks, "Is this glass art or art using glass?" The question is essentially one of artistic intent. Therman Statom cuts, constructs, and paints industrially produced.plate glass and adds found objects to create visually compelling assemblages. In looking at Statom's art, one senses that stories are being told that the viewer cannot interpret.
