Pop art innovator Andy Warhol was born August 6,1928 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania."Warhol settled in New York in 1949 and by the 1950s was a successful commercial artist. In 1962, he achieved sudden notoriety when he exhibited stenciled pictures of Campbell's soup cans and sculptures of Brillo soap pad boxes. He was soon widely known as the most controversial figure in American Pop art, embarking on a seemingly endless succession of silk-screened pictures of … celebrities, Coca-Cola bottles, and so on, often using rows of repeated images."
