Learn More about the History of Silk


Artist lecture today at the Smithsonian American Art Museum's Renwick Gallery.

Fiber artist and author Betsy Sterling Benjamin gives an overview of the history of silk dyeing, starting with cloth prepared in Japan in 752 A.D. and continuing to the present day.

The lecture will take place at noon in the Renwick's Grand Salon. The Renwick Gallery is located at 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, across from the White House.
