Movie director Alfred Hitchcock was born in London on this day in 1899 and scared millions with his suspense-filled films.

The infamous photojournalist Weegee took this frightful photograph in a New York City movie house with infra-red film. However, the movie playing—and the skeleton floating down on to the audience—were not Hitchcock creations. Instead, it was House on Haunted Hill, a thriller directed by another horror expert, William Castle.
