Dedicated to Humanity
March is American Red Cross month. The American Red Cross was founded in 1881 through the dedicated work of Clara Barton and others.
Barton served as a volunteer nurse in the Civil War and cared for wounded soldiers in the Patent Office building in Washington, D.C., which now houses the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
Today, the American Red Cross aids humanity by promoting mutual understanding and peace among all people and nations through their voluntary service. Millions of American Red Cross volunteers provide relief to victims of natural and man-made disasters both at home and abroad.
