Happy Birthday, Mary Cassatt!Born today in 1844, Philadelphia painter Mary Cassatt spent most of her life in Paris, where she was a close friend and colleague of the French impressionists, especially Edgar Degas.
The only American to exhibit with the French impressionists, Mary Cassatt became known for her many paintings of mothers and children.
