Fly Old Glory proudly during Flag Week.Extend Flag Day, June 14, with patriotic banner-waving the entire week!
In the spirit of Flag Week, the Pledge of Allegiance naturally comes to mind. The original Pledge was written by Francis Bellamy (18551931), a Baptist minister, in August 1892. While the oath has undergone some changes since then, today's version is similar to Bellamy's first salute.
For those who do not recite it every day in school, here's the contemporary Pledge of Allegiance:
I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
