Daddy's Little Girl

Sarah Jane Manship
To celebrate Father's Day, we feature this sculpture by proud papa, Paul Manship.

Paul Manship was well known for his garden and architectural sculpture, of which there are many examples in the Smithsonian American Art Museum collection.

This marble sculpture depicts one of his best creations—his daughter Sarah Janet Manship, the youngest of his four children. Father, daughter, and sculpture also appear in the photograph shown below.

Happy Father's Day to all our favorite Dads!
