Hand-in-Hand
Today is the United Nations International Day for Tolerance. This excerpt from the Declaration of Principles on Tolerance reveals the ideas behind today's observance. "Tolerance is respect, acceptance and appreciation of the rich diversity of our world's cultures, our forms of expression and ways of being human. It is fostered by knowledge, openness, communication, and freedom of thought, conscience and belief. Tolerance is harmony in difference."
Today's artwork by George Giusti, inspired by a quotation from Jane Addams, illustrates individual affirmations of tolerance.
