Grand American Coon Hunt

Hunter and Dogs
See coon hounds in action today at their annual hunt competition in Orangeburg, South Carolina!

Hunter and Dogs by painter J. Alden Weir sets the right tone for the event!

When J. Alden Weir saw his first impressionist exhibition in Paris in 1877, he was repulsed, stating, ³I never in my life saw more horrible things.… It was worse than the Chamber of Horrors.² Later, however, he became a convert to the style and enjoyed a successful career as a landscape painter. His large farm in Branchville, Connecticut, inspired many of his scenes.
