One of the areas leading dance troupes, the Dana Tai Soon Burgess Dance Company, premiers its latest work-in-progressIslandalong with Chino Latino and Hyphen to kick-off Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. Burgess explains his inspiration for exploring Asian-American cultural identity through dance in a post-performance discussion. Funding for this program is provided by Target. The event is offered in collaboration with the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Program, the Smithsonian Center for Museum Studies, and the Smithsonian Heritage Month Steering Committee. |
