Nite This woodcut image is a dramatic example of my interest in American buzz words. The name of this establishment in downtown Los Angeles is actually the State Theater, but I changed it to the phonetically spelled "Nite," a word with more popular associations. Moreover, in deference to my lifelong appreciation of Edward Hopper's works, I added the letters "AWKS" below the theater marquee. Together with "Nite," the work becomes a discrete homage to Hopper's famous painting Night Hawks.
