Bud, one of my favorite prints, is based on a painting I did in 1975. After twenty-one years, I returned to the image to create the lithograph you see here. One of the changes I made in the new print is the way I've chosen to splay the vertical lines. In the original painting, these lines do not stand vertically, but converge toward a vanishing point somewhere above the image. In the new print, the lines are set vertically, remaining parallel to each other and to the side edges of the image. The result is a taut and more compressed composition than in the original painting.
