Although second impressions have often been taken from the image remaining on the plate after a monotype is printed, some artists explored ways of printing additional impressions from the original plate. Werner Drewes painted his image on a slick celluloid surface and, after the first pull, created as many as ten related impressions by retaining the basic composition but varying the colors in each proof. |
