Secrets of the Dark Chamber published by the National Museum of American Art in association with the Smithsonian Institution Press, contains full-color reproductions of all 152 plates from the show along with essays by curators Merry A. Foresta and John Wood and numerous nineteenth-century texts written by and about the daguerreotypists.

The catalog, published by the National Museum of American Art and Smithsonian Institution Press, was also supported by the Gilman Paper Company.
