Biography

Little is known about sculptor Berthold Nebel, who won the Prix de Rome, an award given by the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Nebel sculpted a figure of General Joseph Wheeler for the United States House of Representatives and also created a statue of Alexander Brown, the founder of a powerful Wall Street investment bank, for the intersection of Wall and Nassau streets in Manhattan.
