Luce Artist Biography

Frederic Jean Thalinger studied at Washington University’s School of Fine Arts and the Art Institute of Chicago. He collaborated with his wife, the activist and artist Ciel Frampton, to make educational mobiles, including one of the sun and moon that was admired by Albert Einstein. Thalinger created many portraits and figures from soap, wood, clay, and welded metal, and also constructed architectural sculptures. He completed commissions for the Chicago Housing Authority and the United States Treasury Department, and was the assistant sculptor on the Proctor and Gamble monument in Cincinnati, Ohio.
