Luce Artist Quote

“I incorporate cultural influences with modern designs to create art with a futuristic appeal.” Nelda Schrupp

Luce Artist Biography

The artwork of Nelda Schrupp, a member of the Nakota Sioux tribe, has evolved around the rattle, a spiritual object used in sacred ceremonies in her native culture. Schrupp was influenced by the modern art she studied at the University of North Dakota. She combines abstract geometric shapes with traditional tribal forms to create pieces that function as wearable jewelry, as sculpture, and as amulets whose “voices” help to carry prayers to the Great Spirit.
