Florence Riggs

Beryl, Utah 1962

Born into a family of Navajo weavers, Florence Riggs is now recognized as a leader in the contemporary pictorial weaving movement. She uses traditional techniques, but buys commercially dyed yarn and draws her subject matter from magazine illustrations as well as her own experience of contemporary Navajo life.
