Luce Artist Biography

August Casciano studied at the Rhode Island School of Design, and in the 1930s and '40s his work was exhibited at Brown University, the Golden Gate Exposition (San Francisco), and the Library of Congress. During the Great Depression, he worked in the Federal Art Project of the Works Progress Administration. A New Deal program created in 1935, the WPA provided jobs for millions of unemployed Americans, including artists. Casciano also designed jewelry.
