The text of the eighth amendment to the U.S. Constitution is buried under layers of brightly colored paper. This amendment, one of the ten collectively known as the Bill of Rights, protects Americans from excessive fines and bail, as well as "cruel and unusual punishment." Mark Bradford invokes the amendment's protective words, only to render them illegible.
