Artwork Description
In Tall Vase, John Nelson curved the sides of the vessel, stretching and twisting it into an elongated shape. The mottled tones of brown, gold, and yellow evoke layers of earth, while the white shapes resemble seeds falling from the top of the vase to gather around the base. The colors and shapes suggest the artist was inspired by organic forms and wanted his finished piece to reflect the natural appearance of the clay.
