(5.1 x 6.7 x 1.7 cm) Smithsonian American Art Museum Gift of Lloyd E. Herman, founding director and director emeritus of the Renwick Gallery (1971-1986) 2003.12.1 Not currently on view
The trees, leaves, and shrubs of her garden inspired Sharon Boardway to create works that evoke, in the words of one critic, “an unspecified narrative . . . a mood or a moment in time.” Toward the end of her career, Boardway began experimenting with color; the title of this brooch reflects her love for her garden and her belief that green is good, in nature and in jewelry.
