Tradition vs. Reinvention: Weaving artwork digitally

Using innovative materials such as fiberglass, digital photographs, and fiber, Latino artists have made significant contributions to contemporary American art. They have incorporated artistic and religious traditions, cultural icons, and historical events into contemporary works that refer to “Hispanidad” as well as to the broad sweep of American art.

In this lesson, students will explore an example of innovation in contemporary Latino art and perform the next step in the process of reinvention—the digital realm.
