SEEING RED? FEELING BLUE?
Some artists use color like a language, to say things that aren't easy to say in words.

Do colors have meanings for you?

They do for me!

This painting always makes me think of a family picnic. The colors remind me of the summer fruit we pack in our basket and the grassy slope where we spread our blanket. The painting looks warm and happy to me.

But what if the artist had made all the green stripes darker? And what if he hadn't used yellow at all?

How would the picture make you feel, then?

You can put your feelings in your artwork. The colors you pick can help you.

That's what our next group of artists did.

What do the colors in their artwork mean to you?
