The 1920s had been boom years - - business was great and people were buying everything from cars to clothes on credit. But in October, 1929, the business world fell apart. The stock market crashed, banks closed, and people began losing their jobs. By 1933, more than eleven million people - - - a third of the nation's workforce - - - were unemployed.
