The Art of Video Games

Student Game Challenge

Student Team

The Smithsonian American Art Museum invited senior students from the Computer Game Development and Animation Program (CGDA) at the Washington County Technical High School to create mini games to help promote the online micro-donation campaign for The Art of Video Games, in which all who donate $10 or more get their names in the exhibition credits. The museum's favorite game is “Insert Token Here,” created by Matt Culver, Sean Fagan, Nick Hockensmith, Eric Martell, Kelsie Munch, and Brett Welsh. Here’s what the design team had to say:

We designed "Insert Token Here" to encourage donations for The Art of Video Games exhibition at the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Our concept reflects the impact that donations will have on the exhibition. The construction site context and increasing quality of character and background design shows the importance of donations, while the arcade-style platformer ties into the classic video game theme established by some popular original video games. We are proud to have this game chosen to be featured on the Museum's website!
