Whitfield Lovell drew this figure directly on the plank wall of an abandoned row house in Houston, Texas, in homage to the home's former residents—families of railroad workers. This young woman, one of the imagined inhabitants, poses with her hand resting in her lap. Her cheerless expression suggests years of hard work, the signs of labor etched in her face.
