Carolyn Brady

Carolyn Brady arranged this still life composition in her studio on Vinalhaven Island, Maine. She photographed the arrangement, projected the image onto a large sheet of paper, and made a faint, quick pencil sketch of it. As she painted the forms with transparent watercolors, she continually referred to a large color photograph and, rather than "correct for the lens," she incorporated those distortions introduced by the camera lens into her final work.
