platinum-palladium print

Smithsonian American Art Museum, Gift of C. Philip Cardeiro

Photographers began using the platinum print process in the 1880s to achieve a permanently fixed silvery gray image with a wide range of tonalities. Tom Millea employs the process exclusively to achieve his contemporary, yet classic look. The finish is luxurious and intensely moody.
