Adams “froze” this moment just after a fresh snowfall and before the wind or sun had a chance to clear the loaded branches. The trees’ immense height and density fill nearly the entire photograph. No tracks break the serenity of the scene. Only the pattern of the snow against the still branches tells any story at all.
