Two tiny boats draw our eye to the horizon in this poetic image of light and sea. Moving to Maine in 1901 undoubtedly inspired Post to reproduce New England’s seascapes. Post was a member of New York’s Society of Amateur Photographers, and, along with Alfred Stieglitz, a founding member of the Camera Club of New York as well as an active collector of photographs.
