Most offset printing jobs start with copy or art (text, drawings, or photographs) (fig. 1). Quite often, they are a combination of each.
The first step in the offset process is to create a negative from the original art. This negative (fig. 2) can be made with a camera or can be imaged electronically to an imagesetter, which creates the negative directly from a computer. From this negative, a printing plate will be made.
We can now make the plate.
