Understated but graceful form is the hallmark of this wood turner's work. The artist reveals in this piece his reverence for the subtle grain patterns that white oak produces. Ellsworth's primary concern has been to explore the expressive and contemplative qualities of wood. The materials transcend our conventional associations with function and use in regard to vessels.
