29) To create a sphere, Josh also uses a block that rests on the marver. Mike Armstrong holds the block steady while Josh rolls the forty pound blob of glass against the wood. The heat of the piece is so intense that flames shoot from the water-logged wood, as steam escapes from below.
30) As the piece nears completion, the excess glass, or moil, that holds the shaped Megaworld to the blowpipe cools dramatically. It will crack if it loses too much heat, so a large torch is used to keep it hot.
