Touch the Art
This highly decorated cocoa pot rests on a pedestal complete with a tablecloth, an indication of Superior's delightful sense of humor. Inspired by the graphic qualities of embroidered samplers, she covered the flattened forms with abundantly drawn detail, including lettering, lace patterning, and a generous sprinkling of brown specs resembling cocoa beans. A sense of animation is achieved by the downward tilt of the spout in a beckoning gesture of hospitality.
