Artist Liza Lou gained recognition in 1996 with her room-size installation Kitchen, for which she hand-glued millions of glass beads and took five years to complete. Today, Lou works with Zulu bead workers in South Africa, creating works that involve the same approach, but focus on messages of materiality and social consciousness. Hear her discuss this fascinating process and her new installations.
