Events at the National Portrait Gallery (NPG), and Smithsonian American Art Museum and its Renwick Gallery Sunday, February 14, 2010 Steinway Series 3:00 PM McEvoy Auditorium, Lower Level Smithsonian American Art Museum Map Award-winning composer Darin Atwater returns to American Art with a group of musicians who will create a musical interlude of ballads, and love songs, and premiere a short work entitled Rituals and Romance. Atwater is the artistic director and founder of the renowned Soulful Symphony. Thursday, February 18, 2010 Take Five! 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM Kogod Courtyard Smithsonian American Art Museum Map A four-time WAMMIE-nominated quartet, The Bay Jazz Project will be back on the Take Five! stage to serve up crowd favorites, standards, and their own original music. Pianist Sean Lane, along with reed man Seth Kibel, bassist Bob Abbott, and drummer Mark Lucas, will be joined by Justine Miller with her sensational vocals and outstanding trumpet.
