How to Search SAAM's Web Site

For best results, enter a whole word or phrase that describes what you seek. Currently the search is not case sensitive. That is, results might contain upper or lowercase versions of your entry.

Here are some additional tips to help you narrow or expand your search.

Option	Description	Examples
* (to complete a word)	wildcard stands in for any number of characters (including 0)	apple* finds documents with words that begin with "apple" (such as apple, apples, applecart, applesauce, Appleton)
AND	adds mandatory criteria to the search	apples AND oranges finds documents containing both "apples" and "oranges" ignores documents containing only one of the two words (only "apples" or only "oranges")
<NEAR/3>	the words must occur within three words (or any number entered) to be considered a match	apples <NEAR/3> oranges finds documents containing "apples" within three words of "oranges" <NEAR> the words must occur in the same document and the closer the proximity (any order), the higher the score
NOT	eliminates documents in which the word is found	apples NOT oranges finds documents containing the word "apples" but not the word "oranges"
OR	adds optional criteria to the search	apples OR oranges finds documents containing either "apples" or "oranges" A comma can be used instead of OR — apples,oranges
<PARAGRAPH>	retrieves documents containing words in the same paragraph	apples <PARAGRAPH> oranges and fruit retrieves documents containing "apples" and "oranges" in the same paragraph and the word "fruit" anywhere
<SENTENCE>	the words must occur in the same sentence to match (any order)
<TYPO>	finds all words that are spelled similarly
<THESAURUS>	finds documents containing synonyms for the specified word	<THESAURUS> altitude finds documents containing the words "height" and "elevation," which are synonyms for "altitude"
