Goncalo Alves Bowl #732
1994 |
| This conical bowl is a stunning example of the segmented technique, as practiced by wood turner Shuler. The technique, which requires laminating hundreds of small pieces of wood into a larger block prior to turning, produces a complex and sometimes unexpected pattern. This piece seems to evoke a sense of gyrating motion. |
