Job Opportunity: Web Content Management Specialist (IT Specialist, Internet)

JOIN THE SMITHSONIAN AMERICAN ART MUSEUM AND RENWICK GALLERY TEAM IN WASHINGTON, DC

This position is part of the web team within the Office of External Affairs and Digital Strategies of the Smithsonian American Art Museum and Renwick Gallery. The incumbent serves as an Information Technology Specialist providing support and media production services with a focus on web content management and digital innovation projects.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

This is a permanent US Federal position in Washington, DC at GS-09, starting at $60,129/year with a salary range to $78,167/year. It includes full health, retirement, and leave benefits. While there is support for a telework-based schedule during the COVID-19 pandemic, a fully remote hire is not possible due to the eventual need for on-site work at the museum buildings. US citizenship and ability to pass a background check required.

DUTIES

  • Website content and media management 
  • Helping coordinate content enhancement projects
  • Ensuring design and formatting standards are met
  • Creating and managing digital media content, including both text and media
  • Assisting with user support and training for digital projects
  • Maintaining familiarity with software and hardware to report and troubleshoot problems

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge and experience required by the position includes activities such as:

  • Over one year of experience using web development tools, web content management systems (e.g. Drupal or WordPress), and web analytics software
  • Proficiency with HTML and CSS
  • Experience working with digital formats for text, images, audio, video, and metadata management for digital assets
  • Experience managing web design including page layout and responsive design for web, mobile, and social media environments
  • Experience working and communicating methodically in a collaborative team environment
