Artwork Description

Brooch PLAT5C#2CL is from the Platonic series, which explored the five Platonic solids—the tetrahedron, octahedron, cube, icosahedron, and dodecahedron. Shiang-shin Yeh recognizes the symmetry and proportion of these in the natural forms of honeycombs, flowers, shells, pinecones, and snow crystals. This piece recalls a blossom that has been reduced to its basic geometric elements.
