Artwork Description

Leo Friedlander’s medal combines a classical theme with the rural genre scenes that were popular in American art throughout the first half of the twentieth century. On the obverse, the musical harmony embodied in the archaic figure holding a lyre parallels the communal harmony of the present day depicted on the reverse.
