Artwork Description

This token was created by an unknown artist in remembrance of American sculptor Daniel Chester French (1850-1931). French created several monumental sculptures during his career, including The Concord Minute Man, located in Minute Man National Memorial Park, Concord, Mass., and the seated figure of Abraham Lincoln at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. French was a founding member of the National Sculpture Society, which sponsored this memorial medal shortly after the artist died.
